Opus Professional is a PC based solution for CCTV and general
security management using PC based software
running under windows 2000/XP or Vista. Opus
Professional supports
multiple workstations using mouse or touch
control for all of the system facilities.
It is suitable for small single user
systems, up to large multiple workstation
schemes with distributed control.
The Opus Professional workstations are standard PC’s
running windows NT/2000/XP/Vista and can be
interconnected by the Opus Professional network, or
connected directly to the target hardware.
The Opus Professional network is specifically designed
for high reliability, multiple redundancy,
and fast mean time to repair.
Control of all the major features of the site are carried out on
a graphical interface using touch or mouse
control. No keyboard is required for most
operations. Opus Professional is fast, with screen
changes taking place in a fraction of a
second.
The workstations are all linked to an Opus
Professional Switch which is firmware device responsible
for arbitrating the PC communications. The
Switch in turn connects to Data Routers,
which are responsible for communicating with
peripheral devices such as matrices,
telemetry receivers, multiplexers, telephone
systems etc.
The whole system can reliably and quickly
operate using ‘slow’ data links of 19,200
bauds including the PC interconnection, and
does not depend on a high speed network such
as CAT5 (Ethernet), nor centralised file
servers. Grovedime/Opus Professional routers have been
recently upgraded to support baud rates in
excess of 115,000 which allows the
Grovedime/Opus Professional routers to easily handle
digital audio. In many cases the digital
audio can be ‘piggy backed’ onto existing fibre networks.
An additional Opus Professional Management package allows
the control of substantial alarm systems,
with automatic messaging to DECT and GSM
phones, Lone worker and Panic call
management, with location reports on DECT
handsets, along with remote control of door
entry systems via workstations or DECT
handsets.
The concepts and software have been field
proven for more than 11 years on large
schemes supporting up to 12 work stations.
Workstations can be positioned throughout
the scheme, connecting by hard wire, fibre
or microwave, as only a 19,200 baud data
link is required to integrate them into the
system. The network automatically
reconfigures when a new workstation is added
or removed.
Some of our larger schemes have more than 40
remote nodes connected by fibre optic to
control centers, each node often controlling
and reporting from at least 6 devices local
to that node, i.e. CCTV cameras, remote
alarms and telephone systems.
The only common equipment in the scheme is
the data Switch, which being firmware based
can be replaced in a few minutes with no
configuration required, and the hardware is
identical to the data routers, ensuring a
minimum spares holding.
Drivers to suit a large number of
peripherals are supplied with the system.
The drivers (which control the target
hardware) are written in a published script
language, and simple drivers can be written
by the installation engineer.
Plug in modules have now been developed for
all existing and new routers allowing CO-AX
telemetry, TCP.IP connection, USB, Digital
Audio and Door entry, with more being added.
Extensive support is provided for the Opus
Professional range of products both by
Grovedime Ltd and our Midlands based agents
in order to ensure a trouble
free installation and easy future expansion
and maintenance.
